The Liberty guard and WNBPA first vice president underwent successful top surgery. Layshia Clarendon, a New York Liberty guard and WNBPA first vice president, revealed Friday via Twitter that they’ve undergone successful top surgery. "I’m usually not scared to share news publicly but the amount of hate, myths & ignorance actually had me debating sharing this joy," Clarendon wrote. "I had Top Surgery! I’m feeling free & euphoric in my body & want Trans people to know and see that we’ve always existed & no one can erase us!" Chaney was a pioneer for Black basketball coaches and a Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame coach. Temple legend John Chaney , a pioneer for Black basketball coaches, passed away on Friday at 89 years old. The  Philadelphia Inquirer's Mike Jensen  first reported the news of Chaney's passing, which Dana O’Neil of The Athletic  confirmed . Temple announced he passed away late Friday morning "after a short illness." "John Chaney was a great coach, but he was so much more. For generations of students, he was a wise counselor, a dedicated teacher, an icon of success, and a passionate leader who always led by example and with conviction," said Temple President Richard M. Englert , who knew Chaney since he came to Temple in 1982. "I am also honored to say he was a dear friend. Murphy delivered in the 2015 postseason for the Mets by homering in six consecutive postseason games during the NLDS and NLCS. Free-agent first baseman Daniel Murphy is retiring from MLB after 12 seasons. "This is a beautiful game, and I really just feel humbled and blessed that it let me jump on the ride for a little bit," Murphy told SNY . "It's beautiful. It can teach you about so many things. And all I can say is, thank you." Murphy, 35, finished his career as a .296 hitter with 138 home runs and 735 RBI while playing for the Mets (2008-2015), Nationals (2016-18), Cubs (2018) and Rockies (2019-2020).
